Grizzly Bear In Bus Wreck. They’re Fine

The accident in Germany did force them to miss a gig in Munich with Wilco. Thank God though, everyone is fine.

Bruce Says Hey Ohio… In Michigan

Thanks to Spinal Tap Ohio seems to be the default location for musicians who can’t remember where they are. Friday Bruce Springsteen made several Buckeye State references during a show in…. Auburn Hills, Michigan. We’re based in Columbus so I can tell you that Ohio references in Michigan this close to the Ohio State/Michigan game is a gaffe you don’t want to make.

Bonus Coverage. Here it is:

Kanye Resurfaces In London

I’ll assume Jay Z and Beyonce knew he was coming.

The Who For Super Bowl Halftime?

That’s what Billboard is reporting.

Bonus Coverage. I suppose it’ll be ok, but nothing like this:

Liam Says It Was A Guitar Smash Up

Noel leaving Oasis was brought on by the brothers Gallagher taking turns abusing guitars if you must know. So says Liam anyway.

Blink’s Barker Talks Solo Record

Quite a year for him…. Nearly killed in a plane crash with his best friend, reunites with his band, and then that same friend dies from a drug overdose. Through all that Blink 182’s Travis Barker says he has a solo record coming.

New Order Spin Off Cancels Tour

Visa issues are keeping Bad Lieutenant home.

Wilco/Beck And More To Cover Skip Spence

This should be interesting…. A various artists cover of Skip Spence’s “Oar” album. The one time Moby Grape and Jefferson Airplane member dropped that record in 1969… It’s quite bizarre.

Bonus Coverage. “Oar”:

Vodpod videos no longer available.

more about “untitled“, posted with vodpod

Perry Confirms, Tyler Quits Aerosmith

Steven Tyler? Yeesh....

In reading the article two things are becoming clear. 1. Tyler has fallen off the wagon big time. 2. Joe Perry is extremely passive-aggressive.

Bonus Coverage. Here’s what happens when you hire the wrong singer. Exhibit A. Gary Cherone fronts Van Halen for about an hour:

Bri Blahg… Gall Stones, And Rolling Stones… Music News Round Up 10/27/09

Springsteen Cousin/Road Crew Member Dies Suddenly

Last night’s show in K.C. canceled after the death of Lenny Sullivan. The 36 year old was Bruce’s cousin and assistant tour manager.

Ailing Clapton Drops Out Of Rock Hall Show

Gall stones have sent the legend to the bench. Springsteen was to appear too, but with Sullivan’s death his appearance may be in jeopardy as well.

It’s Not Funny, It’s Sad

They’re calling it Weezer and Weezy… “I Can’t Stop Partying” is Lil Wayne with Weezer , a track from Ratitude, which drops today. I don’t know what Rivers Cuomo is trying to prove. Is it a cynical grab at Top 40 airplay ala Chris Cornell and Timbaland, a passive aggressive swipe at their record company, or just a big joke? My problem with the whole enterprise is that the only people compromising are Weezer. From Lil Wayne, to Kenny G, to Jermaine Dupri… this is the kind of crap these people churn out. Weezer are the ones purposely embracing plastic, two dimensional, hit radio garbage regardless of their motivations.

Bonus Coverage. This is the saddest day for middle aged musicians since Sammy Hagar recorded “Mas Tequila.”

Morrissey Upgraded To Lonely And Miserable

Doctors say Mozz is doing better after fainting on stage over the weekend. Morrissey you see does not “pass out” he faints.

Bonus Coverage. The first thing they do in a revolution is “hang the dj’s:”

Bri Blahg… Andy Partridge’s Wonderfully Warped Son

21 10 2009

by Brian Phillips (@BrianBlahg)

I’ve always been fascinated with the whole nature versus nurture argument, particuarly in the realm of creativity. XTC’s Andy Partridge is a brilliant songwriter. Turns out his 22 year old son Harry has chosen to express himself in cartoons. His latest work for the BBC is this Rock Band parody. You’ll note he takes a good natured jab at dad’s band at the end of the bit.

Bonus Coverage. In case you’re not familiar with XTC’s music, here’s “Towers Of London:”

Bri Blahg… “Kiss Piss.” It Just Rolls Off The Tongue Doesn’t It. Music News Round Up 10/9/09

Lady Gaga Wants You To Buy Her Debut Again For The First Time

It does have eight new tracks if you’re into that sort of thing.

Bonus Coverage. Lady Gaga pre-fame. If I were a girl I would say she looked like that one chick on your dorm floor who would get really drunk and sleep with your boyfriend then deny it the next day in the dining hall:

There’s A Gene Simmons In Depends Joke In Here Somewhere, But I’m Too Lazy To Find It

Rolling Stone reports on the arrest of a Kiss concert goer. He’s been accused of pissing on someone during the show. Don’t give Gene any ideas. You think he’s above bottling his urine and marketing it as “Kiss Piss?” No he is not.

Can I Buy Tickets For The Oasis Reunion Tour Yet?

Do you really believe Oasis are done? Yeah me neither. Anyway here’s what Liam says he’s doing next.

Please Help Scotland Yard Gospel Choir

Scotland Yard Gospel Choir

The Chicago band was in a horrific van accident last week. They need your help. We’ll keep you posted on the hospitalized member’s conditions as updates become available.

Lady Sov Spits At Doorman, Fined

Is there anything worse you can do to a person than spitting on them? Really I’d rather be kicked in the nuts.

And The Moon Landings Were Faked Too

The album that made Kiss’ career, “Alive” was said to have been recorded at Detroit’s Cobo Hall. There may be some crowd noise on there from Cobo, but trust me, that was a studio creation (as are more live albums than you care to know). Anyway Kiss recreated the recreated “Alive” over the weekend in Detroit and Billboard was there.
