Before We Get Into The Serious Stuff…

Did you know there was a band called Metallagher? Yeah me neither. They smash watermelons and play Metallica covers. How did I miss this?

Perry Takes To Twitter, Says Aerosmith Will Continue

They’re replacing Steven Tyler he says. Good luck with that. Perhaps they need to have a band meeting because Joey Kramer seems to be out of the loop.

Bonus Coverage. Then again, over on the Velvet Rope they’re saying Tyler appeared at last night’s Joe Perry Project show:

I may just have to shut up about all this. I feel like I’m being played. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Stooges Play First Show With Williamson

Retired computer engineer James Williamson is once again, after 30 some odd years, the guitar player in The Stooges. The band played their first gig over the weekend in Brazil.

Bonus Coverage. “Search And Destroy!” And don’t bother complaining about Iggy having his shirt off, he doesn’t give a shit what you think.

I’ve never gotten into the show for whatever reason though I’m a big Family Guy…. guy. Perhaps I’ll have to check it out.

Yauch 1 Cancer 0

Beastie Boy Adam Yauch says he’s feeling good. This past summer he was diagnosed with cancer.

Fallon To Reunite Jawbox

It’s too early to judge Jimmy Fallon’s show as a whole, but the one thing I like is his often adventurous musical bookings. December 8th Fallon welcomes D.C. hardcore legends Jawbox for their first live appearance in over a decade.

It’s Seattle 1991 Again

Jerry Cantrell and Chris Cornell both jumped on stage with Pearl Jam Tuesday in L.A. Over the years that was the recurring rumor… Temple Of The Dog reunions… Never happened until this week, at least for a moment. Perhaps this is a sign that Cornell is ready to stop screwing around with the likes of Timbaland. One can hope.

Bonus Coverage. Video of both:

Dude Palo Alto ’73

You ever heard of Wolfgang’s Vault? Nah me neither. If you’re a hardcore Dead Head you probably have. With legal issues straightened out a trove of good (Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Aretha Franklin, Lou Reed, Ramones, etc) bad (Chicago, Hall and Oates) and Weird (Twisted Sister?) are hitting the virtual market.

Bonus Coverage. I’ll be honest, up until a couple of years ago I wasn’t much for The Dead. Then I saw Phil Lesh at Bonnaroo (no there were no drugs) and something clicked. Am I hardcore? No I wouldn’t say that, but I’m digging the stuff I bought for the Ipod… The Skull and Bones record etc. One of my favorites is their take on Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried”:
