Looks Like Rod Stewart Will Keep Making His Shitty Nostalga Albums

A law firm just sued “Rod The Mod” for $3.3 Million.

Not Drugs This Time Says Amy Winehouse’s Dad

It’s worse if you can imagine. Mr. Winehouse says his daughter was hospitalized last week after one of her boob implants exploded.

Lil Wayne Guests On Gossip Girl’s Record

Someone named Leighton Meester. I don’t watch Gossip Girl. Apparently she’s on it or something. I don’t care but maybe you do.

Lil Wayne Has Fourth Lil Wayne

Dude… A rubber… Wear one. Lil Wayne has, for the fourth time, fathered an illegitimate child. If you’re scoring with us at home, that’s by four different women, and the second this fall. Sure he has money, but I doubt seriously he’ll be around much for the kids. For one thing he missed the birth due to a “prior engagement.” Asshole.

The Olympics Of Cool

Even if the luge and team short track speed skating aren’t your thing, the music lineup for next February’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver is top notch and surprisingly adventurous.

Weezer Offers Up Ratitude Samples On Itunes

My New Dream. Renew My Vows With Kim Gordon Officiating

Sonic Youth made their bizarre appearance on Gossip Girl this week. Full disclosure. I’ve never watched Gossip Girl and have no stinking clue what the show is about. I rather like my life that way. It seems there was a wedding and Kim Gordon played an internet certified minister. After the ceremony the band played an unplugged version of “Star Power.” When my wife and I are ready to get all squishy and renew our vows, I want Kim Gordon to do ours too. (editor’s note. Bri has trouble separating fantasy from reality. We’re pretty certain Kim Gordon is not actually an ordained minister.) They’ve done a nice job scrubbing the scene from You Tube, but you can watch it here.

Bonus Coverage. “Star Power” as God intended:

Bri Blahg… 9/4/09 Music News: Man Retires From Silicon Valley, Joins Stooges

NIN Hollywood Show Features Gary Numan

Argh! Nine Inch Nails keep pulling up inspired guests on their farewell tour and I’m not there to dig it. Wednesday in LA it was industrial music pioneer and ace pilot Gary Numan. “Cars” was an obvious choice. Even better was “Metal.” Numan I fear is largely forgotten, but for Reznor he is a huge influence. Check out Numan’s “Metal”:

So I Was Sitting In The Parking Lot Of A Dentist Office

That’s what Stooges guitar player James Williamson told Rolling Stone of Iggy’s invitation to rejoin the band. He was getting ready to see the dentist when Iggy rang him up.

Williamson left music in 1974, and eventually ended up in a shitty little no future business called personal computers. It almost sounds like a movie:

“I was about to take an early retirement from my job in Silicon Valley, so I figured ‘What the hell, let’s do it.”

Williamson replaces Ron Asheton who died of a heart attack this past winter. James was in the band for their 1973 smokin’ shoot out “Raw Power.”

With the injuries and illnesses piling up, Aerosmith canceled their U.S. tour says Billboard.

On the heels of yesterday’s Radiohead leak, it looks as though an e.p. could be coming.

Death Cab and Son Volt leaders are teaming for a film soundtrack.

Madonna is a crypto-satanist. Tell me something I don’t know.

Sub Pop is doing a 20th anniversary edition of Nirvana’s Bleach. I wonder if the band still owes Jason Everman money for fronting the studio costs?

I successfully avoided even knowing what Gossip Girl was about. I imagined it wasn’t worth the effort. I may have to rethink. Sonic Youth are going to be on. Nah I still don’t care.

Via La La Pitchfork has another new Flaming Lips song.
