Up Next, Jazz Odyssey And Puppet Show

If a band hangs around long enough, they’ll do every scene in This Is Spinal Tap. Steven Tyler jumping up to do “Walk This Way” with The Joe Perry Project was Aerosmith’s take on Nigel Tufnel rejoining The Tap after “Sex Farm” reached number 5 in Japan. Unlike the movie though, Perry tells Billboard it doesn’t mean Tyler is back in the band.

Bonus Coverage. It just never gets old:

More Bonus Coverage. The last time for Perry and Tyler? Ok probably not.

Bri Blahg… Thoughts On The Lips “Embryonic”

Flaming Lips' latest "Embryonic"

A couple of years back when I was still doing radio Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips dropped by our Bonnaroo location for an on-air chat. It was 90 plus damned degrees out, but Coyne was still in uniform; an ill-fitting thrift store three piece. He had been up all night personally overseeing the construction of the band’s UFO stage for that night’s after midnight marathon of confetti, dancing bears, and associated mirth.

Bri Blahg… Anka Dances On Jacko’s Grave… Music News Round Up Tuesday October 13, 2009

Jacko “This Is It,” Not New, Not Jacko’s, Not Good

Crooner Paul Anka charges that Michael Jackson stole This Is It from him. Further, as you’ll read in the linked TMZ article, Anka gave the tune to Saffire in 1990. There must have been some merit to his accusation because 24 hours after its release the estate cut Anka in for half. It was either that or kill him too. (Editor’s note: Bri’s mind is a weedy, abandoned back yard of rusty, hulking, moldering conspiracy theories. Don’t get him started. Nod and smile. Walk away slowly.)

Bonus Coverage. Did you know Paul Anka wrote “My Way?” Damn how much is that song worth? It’s like owning the patent for air. I’m sure Anka wasn’t too fond of this cover:

Flaming Lips’ Plan For The Economy. The Flaming Lips Store

It’s only going to be open for a day this week out in LA. “Embryonic” drops today.

Pearl Jam Don’t Need No Stinking Label

The band is headed for their first number one in over a decade.

AC/DC Counting Down To Something

My guess is they’re going to being selling their own downloads (which aren’t officially available anywhere) and perhaps house rare video too. Anyway it’ll appear here on 9/29.

Is It Just Me….

Or does the fact U2 spend $750,000 a day to keep their tour on the road leave you with an empty feeling?

Wayne Coyne On Colbert And We Have The Video!

Ok actually anyone can have the video as they don’t mind if you embed and all that stuff. I’ll go stand in the corner and think about my above flourish of empty hype.

Bri Blahg… Friday August 14, 2009 Music News Round-Up

With the injuries and illnesses piling up, Aerosmith canceled their U.S. tour says Billboard.

On the heels of yesterday’s Radiohead leak, it looks as though an e.p. could be coming.

Death Cab and Son Volt leaders are teaming for a film soundtrack.

Madonna is a crypto-satanist. Tell me something I don’t know.

Sub Pop is doing a 20th anniversary edition of Nirvana’s Bleach. I wonder if the band still owes Jason Everman money for fronting the studio costs?

I successfully avoided even knowing what Gossip Girl was about. I imagined it wasn’t worth the effort. I may have to rethink. Sonic Youth are going to be on. Nah I still don’t care.

Via La La Pitchfork has another new Flaming Lips song.
