The Blakroc Sessions: Chapter II

30 09 2009

by Nick Jones (@NickJones82)

I happened to be chasing Bison in Yellowstone National Park when Chapter II of the Blackroc sessions was posted on youtube. Luckily, donewaiting‘s Wes Flexner (who’s been all over the Blackroc collab since it broke) pulled me out of the wilderness today so I could enjoy this 7 minute clip of Mos Def and the Black Keys recording “Hoochie Coochie” in Brooklyn.

I must say, it’s kind of bizarre to see a beardless Dan Auerbach working in a studio with Dame Dash, but I love what I hear so far.

For those in the dark, here’s the brief…

An album featuring the Black Keys and some of the biggest names in hip-hop will be released Nov. 27 2009 (the so-called “Black Friday” day after Thanksgiving) under the name Blakroc.

The project was spearheaded by rapper Jim Jones and also sports contributions from Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, NOE, Nicole Wray, Billy Danze and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

hit the jump to watch Chapter One and hear “Hoochie Coochie”…
