When we chatted up Norweigan pixie Hanne Hukkelburg a couple years back in Austin, we were surprised to turn that she was once in a metal band.

Hanne has a new album called “Blood From A Stone.” Her all too brief U.S. tour visits The Mercury Lounge in New York Monday.

The members of An Horse met while both working in a record store with a leaky ceiling.

That was a few years back in their native Brisbane, Australia. Things are really picking up for An Horse… They’ll be touring with Silversun Pickups and Cage The Elephant soon. Tonight they headline Schubas in Chicago.

And They Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead have their own record label now and they seem much happier.

They’re just as loud and just as intense we know that. Tonight the Trail Of Dead hit The Masquerade in Atlanta.

How many people from Middle School are you still pals with?

Probably not many. The two members of Bronzed Chorus met as awkward teens and, as of three years ago, decided they should have a band. Now that I’ve told you all that, one member couldn’t make this tour, and has a stand in. Bronzed Chorus are at Beauty Bar in Austin Monday.

Chairlift told us at Lollapalooza that for their first U.S. tour they didn’t do a good job putting it together.

If you go out for a month you shouldn’t only play 12 shows and drive seven or eight hundred miles between gigs if you can help it. Now other people take care of that stuff, and they can focus on the music which they will do tonight at The Rhythm Room in Phoenix.

Just speaking for me personally, Philadelphia’s The Asteroid #4 seemingly rifled through my record collection, and took the best parts and made a band out of it.

If you dig big echoey psychedelic work outs, you’ll agree and drop in on them at The Comet Tavern in Seattle tonight.
