Them Crooked Vultures

John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl, and Josh Homme have a band. They’ll debut this weekend in Chicago says Billboard. I’ve always admired how Jones and Robert Plant have sought out musical adventures in their post Led Zeppelin years. It would be easy to just do the same stuff over and over again like Jimmy Page. Save your hate mail until after you listen to Coverdale-Page and The Firm. Yeah see. You know I’m right.

Do we care that our home girl Paula Abdul “quit” American Idol. Nope? All right let’s move on.

We do however care very much about MCA of The Beastie Boys. Billboard reports he’s updated fans on his cancer treatment. By the way today is MCA’s birthday. Many more to you sir.

MTV Video Music Awards nominations are out. Yippy skippy.

Radiohead have released a new song commemorating the life and death of Britain’s last World War I veteran Harry Patch.

Pitchfork also reports on Method Man shooting a fan with a pellet gun. Note to those seeking success in music. It’s not a wise career move to shoot your fans.

Having exhausted all possible band combinations, Jack White is releasing a solo single.

This just in. Lucero are great! Their major label debut reportedly has some tasty Memphis horns on it. Fantastic! We thank Brooklyn Vegan for a story on their fall tour with many special guests.
