Jay-Z to replace Beastie Boys as All Points West headliner

23 07 2009

While we’re sending our best wishes to Beastie Boys’ Adam Yaucht, who recently announced he has cancer and the group has cancelled all tour dates, we’re pleased to hear rapper Jay-Z is filling in for the hip-hop group at next week’s All Points West festival and not some other Coldplay-esque (cause hey, Coldplay is playing!) band.

Jay-Z’s Friday night performance marks the rapper’s first US festival date, and puts him alongside a stellar weekend-long lineup of My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the National, Echo & the Bunnymen, Tool, Trail of Dead and Arctic Monkeys, among many others at New Jersey’s gorgeous Liberty State Park. Check the full lineup here, jigga what!
