Sonic Youth made their bizarre appearance on Gossip Girl this week. Full disclosure. I’ve never watched Gossip Girl and have no stinking clue what the show is about. I rather like my life that way. It seems there was a wedding and Kim Gordon played an internet certified minister. After the ceremony the band played an unplugged version of “Star Power.” When my wife and I are ready to get all squishy and renew our vows, I want Kim Gordon to do ours too. (editor’s note. Bri has trouble separating fantasy from reality. We’re pretty certain Kim Gordon is not actually an ordained minister.) They’ve done a nice job scrubbing the scene from You Tube, but you can watch it here.

Pearl Jam Streaming “Backspacer”

It’s on their Myspace. I’m going to check it out this weekend. The parts I’ve heard are really solid. Of course we have that whole pesky controversy about Pearl Jam doing the deal with Target… I don’t know, I guess I’m numb at this point. This stuff doesn’t really get me riled up like it used to. If you want to begin foaming at the mouth over it great, but compared to other stuff, it ain’t that big a deal to me.

The kids may know more about Brit Bobby Long than the grown ups.

Long co-wrote “Let Me Sign,” a song in the movie Twilight. As you can hear his work is of the grown up indie folk variety. While hard at work on an e.p., Long has also been touring hard all summer. Tonight he reaches The Double Door in Chicago.
